새로운 작업 ‘그를 만나다’ 시리즈에 대한 소고 - 박 영 율

All beings in the world live with a destiny that is bound to change.

Furthermore, since we are human beings who live with countless thoughts, the fate of the change is a harsh package of luggage, and additionally the lives of artists living their lives as artists could be better. 

세상 모든 존재들은 변화할 수밖에 없는 숙명을 지니고 살아가고 있다.

더군다나 우리 인간은 무수한 생각 과 더불어 살아가는 존재이기에 그 변화라고 하는 숙명은 가혹한 짐 꾸러미 일 수밖에 없는데 그에 한술 더해 예술가로의 삶을 살아가고 있는 작가들의 삶들은 더할 나위 없다 하겠다.  

In the case of my work, it seems that I have undergone a change over the past 40 years depending on the trend of the spirit of the times and the flow of humanities.

From the early and mid-80s,' superhumanity' to the 'Pine tree' series, the main contents of my work were the forms and contents of using the energy created by protesting absurdity or colliding with different elements, which used to mainly deal with communication and understanding of all my life, as if a monologue of myself and sometimes mainstream stories.  

나의 작업의 경우에도 각각의 시기에 따른 시대정신과 인문학적 상황의 흐름에 따라 근40 년간 의 변화를 거처 온듯하다. 80년대 초중반의 ‘초인’ 시리즈로부터 시작하여 ‘소나무’ 시리즈에 이르기까지 내 작업의 주된 내용은 부조리에 대해 항변을 하거나 서로 다른 요소들을 충돌시켜 만들어지는 에너지를 미학적 근거로 활용하는 형식과 내용들 이었으며, 이것은 나의 삶을 둘러싼 모든 외부적 요소 들 과의 소통과 이해를 주로 다루려 했던 의미들로써 투박한 웅변의 방법을 동원하기도 하고 때론 독백처럼 혼자만의 이야기를 다루었던 내용들이 그 주류였다.  

However, this private transition can be said to be a meaningful transition toward 'my inner' only, and the beginning of the journey was already foreseen in my work a few years ago. The last theme of the Pine Tree series, which was the most recent series, used the proposition "Return to Me" or "permeate to Me," which was compared to the shapely meaning of the previous project "One line Curve," which foretold the work. 

그러나 금번의 사유적전환은 철저히 ‘나의 내부’ 만을 향한 의미적 전환이라고 할 수 있겠고 그 여정의 시작은 몇 년 전의 나의 작업들에서 이미 예견되어지고 있었다고 할 수 있겠다. 가장 최근 시리즈 작업 이였던 소나무 시리즈의 마지막 테마가 ‘나에게로의 귀환’이나 ‘내게 로 스미다’라는 명제를 사용 했었는데 그 이전 작업의 명제였던 ‘일자곡선’ 이라는 형상적인 의미와 비교해 볼 때 그 당시의 사유전환이 이번작업을 예고했던 것 이라 볼 수 있겠다. 

By the end of the pine tree series, I was already past the age of 60 when I had to go around the "Twelve-animals" five times, and I had to let go the work down for a while because I was tired of the pine tree work.

By the time the lethargic routine of giving up painting continued, I now began to wonder about my fundamental identity and my unconscious world before it, which all resulted in a desire to identify the source of my current consciousness, as if it were the cause, and eventually it moved me. 

소나무 시리즈를 끝마칠 즈음 나는 ‘십이 지간’ 을 다섯 번 이나 돌아야 하는 60세를 이미 지나가고 있었고 소나무작업에 지쳐 있었던 나는 한동안 작업에 손을 놓아야만 했었다.

그림을 포기해야만 하는가의 물음이 나를 지배하는 무기력한 일상이 지속될 그즈음에 나는 현제 나의 근본적 정체성과 그 정체성 이전의 나의 무의식세계가 궁금해지기 시작했고, 이는 모든 결과에는 그 원인이 있는 것처럼 현재 나의 의식의 근원을 확인해 보고픈 열망이 일어나기 시작했으며 결국 그것이 나를 움직여 주었다. 

The realm of consciousness that lives on the surface of my own thought and dominates me, And at the same time, in the deep sea of my own thought, the realm of the universe called wriggling 'unconsciousness'...  

나의 사유의 표면에 서식하며 나를 지배하고 있는 ‘자아’ 라는 의식의 영역과

그와 동시에 내 사유의 심해에서 꿈틀대는 ‘무의식’ 이라고 하는 우주와도 같은 영역들...  

The desire to calmly look into the basis of the narrow-minded belief of the self has allowed me to work again, and eventually the works unfold into abstract forms of work that have been removed. This is the beginning of my journey to find unknown combinations of time and space. Just as a tiny object called Voyager 2 is leisurely passing through Pluto, and beyond our galaxy, it's a long, long journey towards infinity...

그 편협할 수 밖에 없는 자아라고 하는 신념 따위의 기저를 담담하게 들여다보고 싶은 욕구가 나로 하여금 다시 작업을 할 수 있게 했고 결국 그 작업들은 형태들이 제거된 추상적형식의 작품들로 펼쳐지게 된다. 시간이나 공간의 그 끝을 알 수도 없는 미지의 조합들을 찾아서 떠나가는 나의 여정은 이렇게 시작이 되고 있다. 마치 보이져 2호라는 작디작은 물체가 명왕성을 유유히 지나 우리은하계 저 너머로 무한을 향한 길고 긴 유랑을 떠나가고 있듯이...
