The works of Korean artist Yang Hae-gue's are on show at leading contemporary art museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

Since her solo exhibition "Haegue Yang: Shooting the Elephant Thinking the Elephant" finished at Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art earlier this year, the artist, 44, has been working internationally, including solo exhibitions "Sample Book" at Dependance in Brussels, Belgium and "Temporary Permanent" at Galerie Wien Lukatsch in Berlin, Germany.

Two of Yang's artworks that substitute artistic experiment for ordinary daily life have been selected for the MoMA and the Guggenheim's exhibitions from their collections.

The MoMA's "Scenes for a New Heritage: Contemporary Art from the Collection," running through April 10, 2016, features artworks representing the political, social, and cultural flux that shape today's global landscape.

Yang's installation "Sallim" was unveiled at the 2009 Venice Biennale, when the artist represented Korea at the Korean Pavilion. The full-scale, steel-frame reproduction of her kitchen in Berlin is packed with venetian blinds, a fan, scent emitters, dishes and other kitchen utensils. Yang transforms the often-neglected value of household labor in a multisensory way. MoMA bought the work after the biennale.

Another piece from Yang's 2009 Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion "Series of Vulnerable Arrangements _ Voice and Wind" is part of the Guggenheim's prized contemporary art collection and exhibited at "Storylines: Contemporary Art at the Guggenheim" through Sept. 5.

The artwork consists of colorful venetian blinds, electric fans and scents of Buddhist temples, fresh cut grass, rainforest, ocean mist, cedar wood and eucalyptus. It is installed at the famous spiral structure of Guggenheim in New York, creating interactions with the viewers.

Yang is also taking part in a variety of international art events including the "After Babel" exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stokholm, Sweden through Aug. 30 and the Vienna Biennale 2015 through Oct. 4. She is now doing a residency at Atelier Calder, before heading to Beijing for her first solo exhibition in China at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art from Oct. 31 to Jan. 3, 2016.

-지속 가능한 창작활동 전주·서울작가들 코로나19 팬데믹 ‘치유와 회복’ 말하다13~30일 전주현대미술관서 회화, 설치, 뉴미디어 전시 강희원·박영율·송정옥·윤현구·이정란·차경진 작가 초대 전주현대미술관이 코로나19 팬데믹의 치유와 회복을 주제로 한 특별작가초대전을 마련했다.오는 30일까지 이어지는 이번 초대전에는 강희원·박영율·송정옥·윤현구·이정란·차경진 등 전주와 서울에서 활동하는 작가 6명이 함께한다. 회화, 설치, 뉴미디어 등 다양한 작품을 선보인다. 강희원 작가의 '시선'강희원 작가의 ‘시선’이란 작품은 미디어로 ‘불멍’(불을 보며 멍하게 있는 것)을 재현한 것이다. 작가는 “바쁜 사회에서 많은 생각을 하는 것보단, 비울 수 있는 것이 어렵다고 느껴 만든 작품”이라고 설명했다. 송정옥 작가의 '봄이 온다'또 송정옥 작가의 ‘봄이 온다’는 마우스 인터랙션 기술을 활용한 작품이다. 관객이 마우스를 움직일 때마다 물감이 퍼지는 모습이 마치 한 폭의 수채화 같다. 작가는 “길고 긴 코로나19 상황으로 전 세계가 작동을 멈추고 몸도 마음도 겨울처럼 굳어버렸다”며 “여전히 코로나19에서 자유롭지는 않지만, 파란 하늘 아래 눈 내리듯 살랑이는 꽃잎들이 따스하게 마음으로 스며들길 바란다”고 말했다. 윤현구 작가의 '물고기 9마리-illumination'윤현구 작가는 폐책을 캔버스 삼아 실험적인 작업을 해왔다. 이번 전시에서는 태운 골판지를 캔버스화 했다. 골판지는 구간마다 쪼개져 부드럽게 파도가 일렁이는 아름다운 바다를 상징한다. 물고기는 황금빛을 달고 막힘 없이 오대양을 유영한다. 이정란 작가의 'Letter Ultraviolet'이붕열 큐레이터는 윤 작가의 작품에 대해 “입체, 평면화의 장점을 다 갖추고 있다”며 “폐책 작업과 같은 효과와 더불어 재료의 확장성이라는 의도가 성공적으로 표현됐다”고 말했다.이 큐레이터는 “이번 전시가 코로나19 팬데믹으로 우울해진 모든 사람에게 위로와 극복의 메시지를 주고, 삶의 새로운 용기를 얻는 기회가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다. 저작권자 © 전북일보 인터넷신문 무단전재 및 재배포 금지                                  I A C O Agency 기획 제공

Chan Hampe Galleries in partnership with HOM Art Trans are pleased to announce the third solo exhibition by Ruzzeki Harris. Ruzzeki has been actively exhibiting in Southeast Asia for over ten years. Moved by what strikes him as ironic or poignant, both world events and personal encounters prove worthy subject matter for his reflections. While his earliest works were abstract, Ruzzeki's stylistic preference have evolved into Figurative Surrealism. Animals, fruits, and human skulls meld into totem-like representations and provide a gentle commentary on contemporary life despite their often cynical appearance. Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Director of HOM Art Trans, says of Ruzzeki, "His works are an extension of his psyche and represent his effort to exist and to be heard. Neither to preach nor to teach, his works are like graffiti on the wall... staring point blank at the passer by."In the Point Blank series, Ruzzeki's subjects appear in isolation, floating on slate grey backgrounds almost as though the imagery were plucked from a nearby alley. The artist cites street art as one of his many influences and his extraordinary technical mastery of the figurative speaks to a facet of that aesthetic. While sociopolitical or cultural critique may be a subtext of the work, most serve primarily to document and solidify the artist's response to the world around him. Reflective of the surrealist mindset, these paintings represent the unadulterated thought and emotion of the artist.A graduate from Universiti Teknologi MARA (2007), Ruzzeki’s previous solo shows include Gravitate, HOM Art Trans (2008) and DICTUM, RA Fine Art Gallery (2011), while group exhibitions include Dazed in Mazes, Valentine Willie Fine Art (2009). He has participated in a number of artist residencies including the MalihomAiR, Penang and NAFAS, Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers (HBArt) present a series of public art programmes in conjunction with the newly established art space Curate on Saturday 17 May 2014. The seminars, covering the topics of art critique and analysis, art collecting and investing, as well as art conservation and restoration, will be presented as part of an educational initiative to create awareness and educate the public on art knowledge.The objective of this first installment of art programme for 2014 is to discuss art collecting in Europe and learn about one of the most significant collectors of Western and Asian Art of the 20th century and one of the wealthiest men of his time Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian. In his own words, Mr. Gulbenkian collected "only the best" and nowadays the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum reflects his eclectic taste for some of the most representative art pieces produced by Western and Asian societies.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Sandra Peixoto Krich is an art historian who specialises in Western art, a curator, educator and design consultant. She has worked as a consultant in contemporary art & research for the prestigious Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (Calouste Gulbenkian Museum) in Lisbon, Portugal which houses a collection of ancient and modern art by the renowned collector Calouste Gulbenkian. She has lectured in History of Art as Adjunct Assistant Professor for the American university, University of Maryland University College Europe in Portugal. She has also collaborated with Palácio Correio Velho Auction House (Christie's representatives in Portugal) and co-curated an exhibition in Oporto about the 19th century Portuguese-Australian artist Arthur Loureiro and conducted the project research at National Gallery Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. She has recently worked for the Lisbon design biennale experimentadesign and is currently writing for contemporary art and design websites and magazines. Born in New York, United States of America, John Krich is a novelist, travel writer, columnist, critic, feature writer and a journalist. He is the author of nine books including the PEN/Hemingway Award winning novel on the private life of Fidel Castro, A Totally Free Man: An Unauthorized Autobiography of Fidel Castro and the groundbreaking anti-travelogue on backpacking through Asia, Music In Every Room: Around the World In A Bad Mood as well as Won Ton Lust, a search for the world's best Chinese restaurant. He was the main feature writer on the arts and food critic for the Asian Wall Street Journal for six years based in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. His travel writing and journalism has been featured in Time Asia, Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue, National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times, San Francisco Examiner and many others. His most recent books include A Fork In Asia’s Road, an anthology of food writings, and Johor:Latitude One, a photo-text collaboration sponsored by Johor's royal family. He has written on many arts related topics, from visual arts and private museums in China and Malaysia, to music in Brazil, Japan and India, to film festivals and heritage preservation and book reviewing.

From
a universal humanities psychology point of view, attitudes and habits expressed
from human self-consciousness also completely dominate the creative soul for
self-realization to artists. In a positive way, it is the source of mental
energy that creates good energy that leads to the formation process and
creative way of life, while in creative thought, that irrecoverability is also
a great trauma of mental chaos. Therefore, the cognitive ability of the
attitude and habit of creating works acts as a basic element of mental passion
that is very important to the artist.

Recently, Lee, Kyung-hee's concept of work has changed significantly visually.
In particular, the period she indulged in so-called concrete paintings that she
had drawn on canvas or paper with a brush was quite long. Nevertheless, through
such self-denial in the early 60s, there is a big change in perception of the
attitude of boldly giving up the framework of the formative sense based on the
authentic painting style. It is the fact that it awakens from the simple
classical aesthetics of compulsion to draw something on the canvas and shows
the result of evolving new intuition and thoughts into a conceptual form as a
liberation zone that contemporary people long for from their true persona. This
is a short of tantamount to a bold abandonment of the materialistic thinking of
modernism, which has long been obsessed and worshipped in her aesthetic
consciousness. 보편적으로 인문심리학적 인식체계의 관점에서 보면 인간의 자의식에서부터 발현되는 태도와 습관은 예술가들에게
자아실현을 위한 창의적 영혼을 완전히 지배하기도 한다. 긍정적인 면에서 삶의 형성과정과 창작방식을 이끄는
좋은 기운을 만들어내는 정신적 에너지의 근원이 되지만 반면에, 창의적 사유에 있어서 회복불능이란 큰
정신적 혼돈의 트라우마가 되기도 한다. 따라서 작품을 창작하는 양태와 습관에 관한 인지능력은 작가에게
매우 중요한 정신적 열정의 기본 요소로 작용한다.

최근 이경희의 작품개념은 시각적으로 상당한 변화를 보이고 있다. 특히
그녀는 작품활동에 집중적으로 붓으로 캔버스나 종이에 그려온 소위 구상회화에 탐닉한 기간이 상당히 길었다. 그럼에도 60대 초반 이러한 자기부정을 통해 정통 회화양식에 기반하는 조형감각의 틀을 과감하게 포기하는 양태의 큰 인식변화를
보이고 있다. 캔버스에 무엇인가를 그려야 한다는 강박의 단순한 고전미학의 관점에서 깨어나 자신의 진정한
페르소나로부터 현대인이 갈구하는 욕구, 즉 해방구 역할로써 새로운 직관과 사유를 개념적 형태로 진화시키는
결과물을 보여주고 있다는 사실이다. 이것은 그녀의 미의식에서 오랫동안 천착하고 숭배해온 모던니즘의 유물론적
사고를 과감히 포기한 것과 다름없는 것이다.

들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze) 철학에서 사유의 무한대에서 초래되는 실험적 사유의 유희적 변화에 대한 노마디즘(Nomadism) 영토확장 개념은 기존 영역을 초월하는 사유를 통해 인류의 생존적 자발성에서 출발하는 본능적
행위이다. 생존원리를 기초한 미술사적 흐름도 원시적 사유로부터 현대에 이르는 인간의 사유에 대한 갈망으로부터
기인한 것이다. 그간 보여준 그녀의 평면작업에서 관찰되는 조형적 직관은 매우 뛰어나다. 그럼에도 철학자 ‘미셀 푸코’는
‘사유가 없는 직관은 허구이고 직관에 개념이 없다면 맹목이다.’라고
말하고 있다. 그녀의 경우 수 십 년간 작가생활에서 자연스럽게 얻어지는 일반적인 경험론과 성찰에 대해
그 동안 작품 속에 내재한 관습의 근원을 결론적으로 부정하고 있으며 이제 그녀의 깊은 에고(ego)에서
새로운 지평으로 출현하는 에피파니(Epiphany)의 직관을 상상이란 두뇌로부터 배설하고 있는 것이다. In the Gilles Deleuze philosophy, the concept of Nomadism
territorial expansion for the playful changes in experimental thoughts arising
from the infinite number of thoughts is an instinctive act that starts from the
survival spontaneity of mankind through reasons that transcend the existing
domain. The flow of art history based on the principle of survival
is also due to the longing for human thinking from primitive thinking to modern
times. Her formative intuition is very outstanding in her artwork. Nevertheless,
philosopher, ‘Michel Foucault’ say, "Intuition without reason is fiction
and meaningless if there is no concept of intuition." In her case, she
conclusively denies the source of customs inherent in her work about the
general empirical theory and reflection naturally obtained in her decades of
artist life, and now excretes Epiphany's intuition from her brain, which
emerges as a new horizon in her deep ego.

의미가 아닌 다분히 인문학, 철학적인 의미를 던져주고 있다. 흔히
우리가 유아적인 순수한 꿈 같은 동심세계를 잠시 차용하고 있지만 그녀의 달은 그만의 회화적 서사로써 사유의 개념을 동반하는 역설적인 함의를 지닌다. 이것은 관자(冠者)에게
던지는 순수한 의미의 미지를 향한 관념의 동경(憧憬)이 아닌
그녀가 갖고 있는 미의식의 덩어리이자 곧 사유의 파편인 것이다. 특히 그녀가 작품제작에 사용하는 삼베(Linen)는 접착제를 물과 혼용하여 상당시간 숙성을 통한 노동과 결합된 땀과 열정이란 매개(媒介)의 산물로써 그의 작품가치를 고조시키고 더욱 위대하게 만들고
있다. 이러한 과정에서 관찰해 보면 그리는 행위가 아닌 자신의 의식을 기본 재료와 감성적 색상을 조형적으로
나열시킴으로써 화면을 긴장시키는 관조의 독특한 행위이다. 이것은 일종의 자연을 향한 신성한 제의와 같은
컬트적 형태로부터 그녀의 내제된 원숙한 미감을 작품에 순차적으로 쏟아내는 듯한 심오한 과정으로 보인다. 한
올 한 올의 삼베(linen)의 실이 자연스럽게 생동하듯 중첩되어 뭉치고 기묘하게 응축되면서 일어나는
일련의 현상적인 상호작용을 매개로 물성(物性)과의 긴장관계를

향한 상상의 여정이 서서히 시작되는 한편의 묵시적 드라마처럼 많은 관자의 감성적 시각을 유혹하고 있다. Her proposition, ‘Memory
of the Moon’ - Thoughts on the Moon, Moon Jar, is not just a lyric, but
rather a humanities and philosophical meaning. Often, we borrow a childlike
pure dream-like concentric world for a while, but her moon has paradoxical
implications that accompany the concept of thought as its own pictorial
narrative. This is not a longing for the pure meaning of toward the unknown world
thrown at the viewer, but a mass of her aesthetic consciousness and a fragment
of thought. In particular, Linen, which she uses to produce her work, is a
product of sweat and passion combined with labor through aging for a
considerable amount of time by mixing glue with water, enhancing and making his
work even greater. Observing in this process, it is not an act of drawing, but
a unique act of contemplation that formatively harmonizes her consciousness
with basic materials and emotional colors and feeling of tension its canvas. It
seems to be a profound process that seems to sequentially pour the mature
aesthetics inherent in her hands into the work from a cult form such as a kind
of sacred ritual to nature. Each thread of hemp cloth naturally overlaps,
clumps, and strangely condenses, dissolving the tension with physical
properties through a series of phenomenal interactions. And as they are combined
with the plane called canvas again, they are holding a feast of unconscious and
simultaneous transcendental space. Her unique experimental ritual-like silence and quiet gaze
are soon revealed in the shape of the circle and moon, and at the same time,
the imaginary journey to the moon transcending time and space begins gradually,
attracting many people’s emotional views like an implied drama. In the end, the narrative of the moon,
the final destination of the formativeity she aims for, overwhelms the dense
gaze of the people as a result of the work. The artist's hidden intention
projects not only his senses but also the flow of consciousness into the work,
and also, deep thoughts resulting from it penetrate the ultimate aesthetic's
dual work trajectory. Looking at it from the
perspective of cosmology, it is a methodology of consciousness that naturally
attracts and attempts to empathize with the vision of the viewer into the
mystery of the planet called the moon and the virtual reality of surreal
imagination. Sometimes it is
contained in the shape of a jar, and sometimes it is a three-dimensional
circular organism that contains the aesthetic consciousness she sees. However, the concept of "difference" seems to be
more necessary in terms of visual aspects with many artists who frequently
borrowed only simple forms as a signature called a moon jar.

The mechanism of her work production
spans the field of contemporary Art painting, which tends to be post-minimalism
of paradox, irony, and satirical elements, which is the expansion of
formability through experiments on flat painting. This 'Casualism', so-called
post-minimalism, is the third result of unexpected hybrid combination of

이끌고 있다. 하루가 다르게 삶의 방식이
변하고는 있지만, 인간은 여전히 자연과
생명에 근거하여 본질적인 삶의 가치를
찾아 유한한 삶을 사유한다.
작품은 주제 ‘Where do we come
from?'을 디지털 코드(ASCII Code)로
변환하고, 그 0과 1의 숫자를 그린 드로잉
작업이다. 우리는 어디로부터 와서 어디로
가는가? 그것은 끝 모를 메타인지의 세계로
접어든 디지털 스스로의 질문이기도 하다.지금 이 순간 안에서 누리는 현존의 힘은 메멘토
모리, 즉 죽음을 기억함으로써 더욱 분명해지는
살아있음의 힘이다. 그것은 내가 마주한 대상과
존재 자체에 집중하는 일이기도 하다. 사람은 관계
속에서 비로소 존재하기에 만남은 필연이다.
진정한 만남은 내가 마주한 타자이거나 내 안의 또
다른 나일 수도 있는 그 대상을 찾아 기다리고
바라보고 느끼고 기억하는 것이다.
그 만남을 향하는 마음을 작품에 담아보려 한다.

이번 Covid-19 Art Spirit 특별전은 최근 코로나 팬데믹으로 우리사회는 여러 분야에서 역사상 가장 아픈 시련기를 겪고 있다. 특히 미술분야의 작가들은 경제적으로 어려운 환경을 맞고 있을 뿐만 아니라 작품활동도 작가의 혼과 열정을 잃어가고
있다. 이러한 환경에서 사회와 작가가 소통하며 서로를 위로하는 특별한 전시를 기획하고 대중들에게 잠시나마
마음의 ‘위로와 치유’할 수 있는 기회를 마련하고 어려운 고난을 함께 극복하는 위한 목적의 전시다. K-ART SPIRIT ‘은 어려운 코로나
정국에서 우울해진 모든 사람들에게 위로와 극복의 메시지를 주고 삶의 새로운 용기를 얻는 기회가 되기를 바라는 마음이다. 이러한 예술적 공감기재인 작품을 통해 전주지역의 작가와 서울지역 작가가 조우하여 지역성을 탈피하고 상호 작가정신을
교감, 새로운 도약의 확장성을 획득하는 계기를 마련 하고 작가들이 보다 확대된 작품성을 발현시키고 전국적으로
홍보 할 수 있는 기회의 장을 마련하는 새로운 개념의 미술 전시다. 동시에 많은 국민과 작가들에게 새로운
용기와 치유의 기회를 만들고 동시에 지속 가능한 아트 플랫폼을 구축할 것이다. 국내 지역작가들의 미술생태계는
지협적인 변방작가에서 탈피되는 새로운 질서가 절실히 필요하며 이러한 전시를 기반으로 국제경쟁력 있는 작가 발굴을 통해 글로벌 작가로의 기회를
만드는 새로운 이벤트가 될 것이다. 관람객에게는 ‘치유와
회복의 시간’과 동시에 차세대 예술가들을 발굴하여 국제적인 작가로의

Artist, Park Young Yul Recent Works ReviewOn the study of the new work "Meet Him" series. 새로운 작업 ‘그를 만나다’ 시리즈에 대한 소고 - 박 영 율 All beings in the world live with a destiny that is bound to change.Furthermore, since we are human beings who live with countless thoughts, the fate of the change is a harsh package of luggage, and additionally the lives of artists living their lives as artists could be better. 세상 모든 존재들은 변화할 수밖에 없는 숙명을 지니고 살아가고 있다.더군다나 우리 인간은 무수한 생각 과 더불어 살아가는 존재이기에 그 변화라고 하는 숙명은 가혹한 짐 꾸러미 일 수밖에 없는데 그에 한술 더해 예술가로의 삶을 살아가고 있는 작가들의 삶들은 더할 나위 없다 하겠다. In the case of my work, it seems that I have undergone a change over the past 40 years depending on the trend of the spirit of the times and the flow of humanities.From the early and mid-80s,' superhumanity' to the 'Pine tree' series, the main contents of my work were the forms and contents of using the energy created by protesting absurdity or colliding with different elements, which used to mainly deal with communication and understanding of all my life, as if a monologue of myself and sometimes mainstream stories. 나의 작업의 경우에도 각각의 시기에 따른 시대정신과 인문학적 상황의 흐름에 따라 근40 년간 의 변화를 거처 온듯하다. 80년대 초중반의 ‘초인’ 시리즈로부터 시작하여 ‘소나무’ 시리즈에 이르기까지 내 작업의 주된 내용은 부조리에 대해 항변을 하거나 서로 다른 요소들을 충돌시켜 만들어지는 에너지를 미학적 근거로 활용하는 형식과 내용들 이었으며, 이것은 나의 삶을 둘러싼 모든 외부적 요소 들 과의 소통과 이해를 주로 다루려 했던 의미들로써 투박한 웅변의 방법을 동원하기도 하고 때론 독백처럼 혼자만의 이야기를 다루었던 내용들이 그 주류였다. Is ‘the Great Chain
of Being’ real? In
fact, in the concept of hierarchy of needs by sociologist Maslow, art is alienated from the existence and reality of
life, despite its superior concept of survival. Under these circumstances, the
artist's ecosystem is inevitably influenced by the economic indicators and

artist's biological survival style has an absolute influence on his activities. The role of Agent is to tow artists on
the global stage and expose and sell their works for continuous activities
based on a professional infrastructure. It is a device that promotes,
advertises, branding, and maximizes and optimizes the value of the work and is
a roadmap of production lines that show the global art market. Therefore, to

discover new artists and to operate professional agents actively in overseas

IACO
will regularly create
a professional artists system based on
the management structure of the market-based art market, promote the creative
activities of artists, form a global group of artists, and promote excellence
of Korean contemporary art. On top of this basic foundation, the Artrooms
Seoul Fair, an international
competitive venue for the global art market, will open the ground for the art
industry based on the continued infrastructure of the maestro by creating a
global network and operating professional agents. Therefore, based on various
experiences such as research and analysis of international exhibitions and
business sectors, we are gradually pushing for the establishment of the

Congratulatory message by Alvin Lee, Bung Lyol, the chairman of the Artrooms Seoul 2018, This is the truly brand new contemporary art fair in Asia it firstly opens door. I'm very happy to host this event with distinguished artists from all over the world. Not only is this exhibition an opportunity to inspire artists with new visions and creativity, but also exchange the spirit of the age with the creative value of the work with many international artists, I am confident that it will be a true art platform with many of the nation's leading galleries, collectors and the public. I hope that this new paradigm art fair will bring a fresh experience for all the artists involved and provide an opportunity for a new transition. This exhibition is actually the first art fair to open in Seoul, Korea. Starting in London,UK five years ago, the event will serve as an occasion to create new art market order and framework in Korea, by facilitating artist's activities through the revitalization of the art market, and at the same time become the gateway for great leaping and development on the international stage. The event consists of newly discovered artists, especially those were selected by a selection committee of renowned British art experts, who has also sorts of showcases at individual artists room.
